Growing the bench, and new to the program, is the University at Buffalo.
Three Boston Public School teachers will have the opportunity to travel to an ancient agricultural system in the marshes of Xochimilco, Mexico, in July. Thanks to funding provided by the National Grid Foundation, these teachers will be learning first-hand about conserving wetlands and traditional agriculture as part of the Earthwatch Teach Earth fellowship program.
Books are Wings has formed a strong alliance in the community to fight against child illiteracy and National Grid Foundation is happy to contribute to its success in providing children with the opportunity to strengthen their ability to read, a gateway skill to higher learning.

Children and families will be able to track their summer reading using Beanstack, an online mobile-first program which encourages and tracks reading.
Last year, the Summer Reading program provided 142,000 participants with book lists, literacy-building activities, engaging games and competitive reading challenges. Over 232,000 people attended Summer Reading programs in 2017.
